Rafting Iguassu River

Duration: 1 hour(s) - Location: Located In Iguaçu National Park, in front of Iguassu Falls.

With a duration of 30 minutes, the descent through the rapids is made in inflatable boats with oars and is captained by licensed professionals associated with the Brazilian Confederation of Canoeing.

The Ilha do Sol Travel Agency has initiated the activity with two small boats, one with a capacity for eight people and the guide/captain, and another with a capacity for 12 people and the guide/captain. The rafting portion is optional. Visitors who take the Macuco Safari Excursion are not required to make the descent through the rapids.

The new activity has been coordinated by Massimo Desiati, a professional with a lot of experience in the field and a 4-time Brazilian rafting champion. It was Desiati who coordinated the canoe trails in the 1994 World Nature Games. Desiati works with professionals hired for the activity for three months. Besides training in operations the guides/pilots also receive security training.

The visitor, who opts for the rafting descent, is instructed by the coordinators of the operation while still at the docks. There they receive all the necessary equipment (special life jackets, which differ from the model utilized on the regular Macuco Safari boats, and a helmet). Following this, the passenger embarks on the conventional boat and takes the normal route, including the baptism in the Three Musketeers Falls.

On the return trip, in a calmer area near San Martin Island, the Macuco boat approaches the rafting boat and the passenger is transferred to begin the descent through the rapids.
